Below are two of the typologies I found interesting;
This image was taken by photographer Steve Tyler and is part of a series 'Typologies of mass consumption' In his set he intended to present how we as a generation of mass consumers use on a daily basis while third world countries have nothing. In this particular compilation he used can pins from his family and friends to present how much we drink.
I like how Steve chose to present all his work in clean grids of 81 as I feel it ties them all together so that you can tell that they are all from the same set. |
Typologies are a classification by type, for example pictures of doors would all be under the heading door despite all being different. I chose to base my typology on leaves as they are practically everywhere and all different, as I took these pictures when the seasons were changing i was able to capture the wide variety of leaves. I tried to take my photos from a variety of angles and not move the objects I was taking a picture of meaning in many cases I had to place my camera flat on the floor.
Inspired by Steve tyler I decided to lay my photos out in a similar grid-like fashion, I felt this allowed the photos to appear far more clean and unified than they were before, I also decided to create a black and white version to see if this effect would be amplified. The change in colours of the first photo grid inspired me for another project that I may carry out in the future, this idea was to take photos of leaves throughout the year so that by the end of the year I could compile the photos into a panorama, sequence or GIF to present the change in leaves throughout the seasons.
