On February 9th (2015) my class visited Tate Britain to take part in a workshop, we were able to work with artist Anna Lucas and Nick Addison - an academic interested in the relationship between students and art, specifically how the work affected them. After watching a short video of Anna's (x) we were asked to walk around the gallery photographing anything we were drawn to and felt affected by.
As I've recently been interested in moving pictures a room dedicated to David Hall's TV interruptions heavily captured my attention as well as a room which screened a loop of an animated cat's tail.In this room I wanted to photograph something that wasn't as noticeable yet still affected me so I took multiple pictures of the actual projector.
This ended up being one of the two images I selected when we were asked to present our favourite images taken so far - the other being an image I took on our way to the gallery as we had been asked to begin photographing before we reached the gallery.

All of our images were collected and put into a sequence then screened alongside a short line of descriptive text per image - this process reflected that which Anna had carried out while creating her short film |

After this we were told about a process she she had done in which she taped carbon paper over a sheet of card and drew what captured her attention without removing her pencil - this created a range of swirls and shapes , when deciphered hints of faces and objects could be found. Her book Blind Movies also uses this process, the only difference being all were made while watching a film. I decided to also attempt this method and drew what captured my attention around the gallery,I then added a phrase that I felt best represented my process with letter transfers. 'You are a projector' I feel that we as humans can be seen as projectors as we project our thoughts and emotions through speech and our facial expressions, artist not only express their thoughts and feelings through through the aforementioned actions but also through artistic techniques like blind drawings.

The images below are those I took on the day:
I had multiple Ideas when thinking of a response to Anna Lucas' work, I initially planned on creating a slideshow with each image connected through the idea of motion hence the multiple images of my shoes although I later discarded this idea when looking back on my images. I then thought about creating a silent video similar to Anna's or a looped GIF but soon after discarded these ideas after becoming inspired by travel/ vlog style videos on Youtube. As I had recorded a limited amount of videos I decided to go through with my idea of a slideshow but with somewhat of a twist, I took an additional photo of my camera and edited all the images I had taken throughout the day into the lens.

I then added segments of video I had recorded over relevant images and a track I had listened to while on the trip. Overall I'm quite pleased with my outcome as I had the opportunity to experiment with different programs such as After Effects, I'm especially pleased with the ending of the video in which I feel the photos and audio line up perfectly.
