I had difficulty choosing what I would do for my final project as I had many ideas and knew I wouldn't be able to complete them all within the time frame I had, originally I had planned to choose the blurred images of shops I had taken from the bus window. I'd thought of a few ways to present these images such as being suspended in the air by string, hanging in a progressive line on both sides of an individual so it would be almost like a simulated tunnel or one A1 photo in the middle and a range of other photos around it in various sizes. Although my final idea to present these images was to present my images in a row, despite being simple in theory presenting them like this would mirror a street of shop fronts, also as I took multiple shops with delays rather than a continuous shot the final piece would appear like a stuttered panorama.Despite thinking through this idea in depth I decided to use my pictures from my motion set and edit them to suit the idea of futurism photography, this was because after looking back at my shop images I felt they didn't come out as I'd envisioned them to also I'd wanted my final photos to present a journey, specifically the view an individual sees while in a moving vehicle. While moving you're unable to capture a full image but rather bits and pieces of scenery, I thought I could replicate this by compiling my motion images to create an abstract image.
I chose the sub category of Futurism as I felt it closely linked to my title 'Obfuscation' and being somewhat confused. After flicking through a book on Futurism (Futurism & Photography by Giovanni Lista) I had an Idea of what I wanted my photos to look like. I first selected and opened four of my pictures in Photoshop then selected equal sections from each, added them to the same document and adjusted the blend mode and adjustment layers (see right) in order to produce a base photo from which I created many variations before settling on a solid idea.

I wanted all of my photos to have a common theme of being vibrant and abstract yet I wanted the viewer to still be able to notice what pictures were put together after staring at the photo in detail, I feel I succeeded in some cases but failed in others such as the overexposed image.
After creating a range of images (see above) I narrowed down my selection to the five I liked the most and printed them on A4. My selection was based on what images I felt worked the best, other people's opinions and my research on futurism. I felt that my images didn't come out as bright as I thought they would so also decided to also create a digital display of my final images(see below), I found that this was a great idea as I later decided to only present one picture as my final for the viewer to focus on as I felt my top images didn't have enough in common to be presented as a set ,I did have difficulty deciding which I would use for this .
Before deciding to present only one image I had planned on exhibiting my images in a row like with my shop pictures, I believed that this would allow my photos to appear like long street as the pictures would be placed seamlessly together, this would further reiterate the idea of only being able to capture bits and pieces on a journey.
My final piece was displayed by printing out the photo in 4 parts on A3 paper then stuck together on mount board to create an A1 image with a border,I feel the image looks far better in A1 than it did on A4 paper as it creates more of a presence. Next time I would take more photos of cars in motion to overlay, I would also take them on a tripod and on a busier road, I feel this would make it easier for me to make a set of photos without reusing the same photo multiple times while editing as they would all have a similar skyline to tie them together but different objects in frame.
I wish to further develop my ideas on the subject of futurism and create things such as futurism portraits as I feel I may be able to create images with hidden meaning and which can be interpret in many ways, experiment with light painting as I think it will incorporate all parts of my project that I enjoyed whilst still falling under the idea of obfuscation, taking pictures based on a poem such as Mariana by Alfred Tennyson because it's a poem that's confusing at first glance but can be understood by reading into the imagery created or continuing to improve my futurism set for my final.
